April 2014 Newsletter

Hope you had a great March! We have 4 things for you in this month's newsletter.

  1. There seems to finally be some hope that spring is actually on its way. This warmer weather means more people start to exercise. Specifically, many come out of the winter hibernation and get back on the tennis courts. To prevent injuries, make sure you have adequate overhead mobility before you start hitting a serve.

Try THIS Test: if you can't get your thumbs to the wall without arching your back then you have a mobility restriction. If you have pain with this, stop immediately and book an appointment.

Try THIS exercise: wrap your hand around the superband, lead your weight back, and relax into the stretch with a normal breathing pattern. Again, if you have any pain, stop immediately and book an appointment.

  2. "Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body, it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity." ~John F. Kennedy
  3. Here's an infographic on the #1 supplement for active people.
  4. New research shows muscle mass is a better predictor of mortality than the BMI. Get Strong!

Every Tuesday at 12:30pm Aaron will be performing free Functional Movement Screens. These screens help assess your asymmetries, movement patterns, and risk of injury. Call to schedule one today.
