2017 Has Arrived!

2017 has arrived

Let's kick off this year to a healthy and smart start:

  1. Within the past several months, we have had a handful of patients who received Amniofix to regenerate injured or degraded soft tissue structures (Achilles, Meniscus, Patellar Cartilage, Hip Labrum, Rotator Cuff). As practicing physical therapists, we continue to be ever fascinated by advancements in medical science, especially those which eliminate the option for invasive surgery (see also PRP Injections), enhance healing/recovery time and are cost effective!
  2. On the subject of newer medical technology, researchers at the University of Arizona used fMRI to compare brain activity of runners to sedentary controls. They found that runners' brains have greater functional connections between the distinct brain regions, including the frontal cortex, versus the brains of sedentary individuals, a finding that supports the beneficial role of exercise activity for brain and cognitive function over the lifespan.
  3. A new study by Northwestern University reported the rhythm of your breathing can influence neural activity that enhances memory recall and emotional judgement. Specifically, individuals were more likely to remember an object if they encountered it on the inhaled breath than the exhaled one; AND the effect disappeared if breathing was through the mouth versus the nose!

We here at DSPT wish everyone a happy start to the NEW year of 2017. Give us a call to let us help you get off on the right foot!
